School bookings
School group booking request form deadlines:
- Fall (September – December) school bookings request opens September 8, and the form deadline is September 29
- Winter and Spring (January – March) school bookings request opens November 21, and the form deadline is December
Joint Use Schools within School Districts 51 and 4 qualify for “Joint Use” agreement. This agreement has the benefit of priority for booking times over schools and organizations outside of those parameters. All bookings from School Districts 51 and 4 are prioritized on a first come, first served basis.
Non-Joint Use Schools outside of School Districts 51 and 4 qualify for a “Non-Joint Use” agreement. “Non-Joint Use” agreement will not have priority booking, as priority is given to School Districts 51 and 4. All bookings within the “Non-Joint Use” agreement are prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis.
Recreation Excellence will review all requests and contact the teacher to confirm the booking. Request forms received after the deadline are subject to availability.

Open/Recreation Swim (Nicholas Sheran and Stan Siwik Pool)
Unstructured play during open swim hours allows school groups to enjoy the pool at their own pace. Students have access to pool amenities, including the slide, pool toys and shallow play areas.

Swim to survive lessons (Nicholas Sheran and Stan Siwik Pool)
Swim to Survive® teaches the necessary skills to survive an unexpected fall into deep water. Swim to Survive® focuses on basic survival skills performed in a sequence of three: orient oneself at the surface after an unexpected entry, support oneself at the surface, and swim to safety.
- Series of bookings (4-5 days)
- Students are grouped based on swimming ability (beginner, intermediate, or advanced)
- Each group will alternate instruction and free swim for 30 minutes each
- Each student is given a recommended Swim for Life® level at the end of the lesson set

Adapted and therapy school bookings
Special Needs Group (group joins during an existing open swim pool time)
Schools within SD 51 and 4 qualify for the $0.00 pricing option. SD 51 and 4 will have priority booking; however, within their respective agreements, bookings are prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis.
Booking fees
- $2.25 per student (no charge for the in-water supervisor aide/teacher/guardian)
Rentals are currently not available at Fritz Sick Pool or Henderson Outdoor Pool.

Insurance
Rental groups, schools*, clubs and sport organizations are required to provide proof of insurance documentation for a $5 million dollar liability policy listing the following as additional Insureds:
- Canadian Recreation Excellence Lethbridge
- City of Lethbridge
- Stan Siwik Family Leisure Pool
- Nicholas Sheran Family Leisure Pool
- Fritz Sick Pool
- Henderson Outdoor Pool
*School District #51 and #4 Lethbridge currently meets the annual insurance requirements, as such no further insurance documentation is required.
Cancellations
Two weeks notice of cancellation is required for full refund. Full fees apply to cancellations less than 14 days.
Additional information
Supervision requirements
Teachers, volunteers or guardians are expected to provide in water supervision for the unstructured play time, for students under 8 years of age and those that can’t swim, as per the admission policy.
- 3:1 ratio for K – Grade 3. PFDs are not a substitute for supervision.
- 3:1 ratio for all non-swimmers regardless of age. PFDs are not a substitute for supervision.
- There MUST be one female and one male supervisor present in the change rooms.
